You mention that aeonscope runs on Linux. Can it be used on other platforms like Windows?
Yes, aeonscope runs under Windows. aeonscope is a client/server application. The client software, which is what you run on your PC actually runs under Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. The server side can be any platform that Oracle runs on, eg. Linux, Windows NT, Novell, Sun, IBM.
I see that aeonscope uses the Oracle database. I thought that Oracle was too expensive for small businesses to use. Is it affordable for my business?
Yes, Oracle is affordable for small business use. aeonscope only requires Oracle standard edition (5 user minimum), not the full enterprise edition. In addition, we can run aeonscope on Oracle application specific licenses which are only a fraction of the cost of full use Oracle licenses.
Our site is already licensed with Oracle. Do we have to pay for extra Oracle licenses?
No, as long as they are full use Oracle licenses, standard or enterprise edition version 8i or higher.
Why do you use Oracle and not Microsoft SQL Server?
Oracle is a very powerful database, and runs on many different computing platforms, so you can choose what is right for your business. This is what separates it from Microsoft SQL Server, which only runs on Microsoft's Operating System, locking you into one platform.
Oracle runs on NT, Linux, Sun, IBM and others, so you can scale your hardware as required. Our preferred server platform for small businesses is Linux. Linux offers unprecedented reliability and affordability.
